Mountaintop Removal 101. The Mountaintop Removal Roadshow
Mountain-top Removal coal-mining has destroyed 470 mountains (800+ sq. miles) and 1,000 miles of streams in Appalachia. The practice causes flash-floods, mud-slides, the demise and dislocation of communities and the total and permanent destruction of mountains - the tie that binds together the history, heritage and culture of Appalachia. The good news is that communities in and beyond the coalfields are uniting and standing up to put an end to this travesty! Here's to the Long Haul was born of the movement to stop Mountain-top Removal and holds this issue at the very heart of our music and our mission. The Mountain-top Removal Roadshow is an educational presentation created by dozens of activists who work in this movement. Through this presentation we aim to educate the grassroots about the devastation King Coal is causing in Appalachia and what we can do to stop it!
